University of Texas Golf Club announced this week that Former UT All-American and NCAA Champion Steve Bryan will become Director of Tennis at the club. Bryan is a two-time All-American who played for The University of Texas from 1988-1990, winning the NCAA singles national championship as a sophomore. Following his success at UT, Bryan went on to compete professionally on the ATP Tour for nearly a decade.

Construction is under way at the Edgar O. and Melanie A. Weller Tennis Center at the Club, and Bryan will join the UT Tennis Center in September prior to the facility’s opening this fall. His responsibilities will include supervising all tennis staffing and programming and developing a first-class program for club members.

The $8 million tennis facility will feature six indoor tennis courts and four outdoor tennis courts. It will also serve as the indoor home for The University of Texas men’s and women’s tennis programs, making Bryan’s strong ties to Texas Tennis a significant asset in his role as director.

The facility will be a great asset for UT Golf Club members and prospective members that join the UT Tennis Center. Located between the 1st and 9th fairways of the UT Golf Club, it will be championship-caliber. With a limited number of memberships available, members will have easy access to quality court time as well as member privileges such as fitness, swimming (opening Spring 2013), dining and social events.
